[r徵才] Faculty Position in Astronomy, National Central University, Taiwan

The Graduate Institute of Astronomy at National Central University (NCU) in Taiwan invites applications for a new faculty position beginning from August 2017. A Ph.D. in astronomy or a closely related field is required prior to the start of the appointment. Duties include research, teaching, and service. Candidates from all areas of observational and theoretical astrophysics are encouraged to apply, but preference would be given to those who have experience in extragalactic subjects. Applicants should have a strong record of achievement in astronomy research and a commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education in astronomy. Courses and colloquia would be conducted in English at the Institute. A command of mandarin is helpful, but not essential. Members of the Graduate Institute of Astronomy at NCU are engaged in a wide variety of astronomical research including solar and planetary physics, stellar astrophysics, extragalactic astronomy, dark matter and cosmology. The institute runs its own Lulin observatory and is a consortium member of PanSTARRs and PTF/iPTF. Members of the Institute can also access other observational facilities, such as CFHT, JCMT, and ALMA.
