"Cosmic-ray Driven Galactic Outflows"

時間/地點: 2020-11-27 14:00 [S4-1013]

摘要:

Galactic outflows are ubiquitous and essential for suppressing star formation in low-mass galaxies; however, their launching mechanisms remain uncertain. Recent studies have shown that cosmic-ray (CR) driven winds are a promising mechanism for wind launching. In this talk, I will present the first global 3D magnetohydrodynamic simulations of galactic outflows including the effect of CR streaming, and show that the outflow and galaxy properties critically depend on the streaming speed. I will also discuss other mechanisms that may affect the CR transport speed, including the decoupling of CRs from cold, neutral gas and turbulent damping.
