"Where is the edge of the Solar System?"

時間/地點: 2021-10-29 14:00 [S4-1013]

摘要:

Human is exploring the Solar System constantly. After the discovery of Neptune, Pluto, and Trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs), the edge of the Solar System had been expanded to a place beyond 40 au. The TNOs contain many dynamical subpopulations, including those in 3:2 resonance (Plutinos) and 2:1 resonance (Twotino), which provide a unique diagnostic of the dynamical history of the outer Solar System . Several characterized surveys, e.g., CFEPS, OSSOS, and DES, detected a few thousand TNOs in the past two decades. Their resonant TNOs reveal the possibility of different types of giant planet migration, as their distant TNOs can be the probe of the hypothetical Planet Nine. Its gravitational effects could explain the clustering of the orbit of distant TNO. At the end of this talk, I will share the experience of my career, and discuss the job opportunities in Taiwan.
