"Probing Magnetic Structures of Supernova Remnants and Pulsar Wind Nebulae with the Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer"

X-ray polarization is a powerful tool for studying particle acceleration in high-energy astrophysical phenomena, such as supernova remnants (SNRs) and pulsar wind nebulae (PWNe). X-ray polarization measurements can provide valuable insights into the geometry and physical processes occurring within these objects. By studying the polarization properties of the X-ray emission, we can learn about the magnetic field structure, particle acceleration mechanisms, and the nature of the emitting particles. Thanks to NASA’s Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE), launched in 2021, we can now map the magnetic field structure of these remnants and nebulae at higher energies with enhanced detail and accuracy, shedding light on our understanding of their complex dynamics and underlying physics. In this talk, I will give a brief introduction to IXPE and present some of our recent work on X-ray polarization and the magnetic morphology of SNRs and PWNe.
