"Unraveling Supernova Secrets in the Infrared"

時間/地點: 2024-12-11 14:00 [S4-1013]

摘要:

The infrared era has arrived, ushering in a transformative phase of discovery as we unlock the secrets of both thermonuclear and core-collapse supernovae. We harness the synergy between the statistical power of large-scale ground-based surveys, such as the Carnegie Supernova Project, and the unparalleled sensitivity of JWST. In thermonuclear supernovae, prevalent high-density environments provide strong constraints on their explosion mechanisms. Meanwhile, observations of molecular formation in core-collapse supernovae reveal precursors to a significant source of dust in the early universe. These discoveries are reshaping our understanding of these explosive events and their profound impacts on cosmology and astrobiology.
