[徵才] Postdoctoral Scholar in Optical/Infrared Astronomy

The Graduate Institute of Astronomy at National Central University (NCUIA) is hiring one postdoctoral researcher to work on OIR astronomy. NCUIA operates the Lulin One-meter Telescopes and two smaller aperture telescopes at the Lulin Observatory. NCUIA is also participating in the construction of a new 2-meter telescope located in Mexico (expected to be completed by 2025). NCUIA has limited access to the CFHT and the Magellan Telescopes via proposals competition. Beside these, NCUIA has joined the Rubin Observatory's Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST). The successful candidate will have the data access right to LSST.

The successful candidate will be mainly working on the imaging data acquired from the mentioned telescopes, with focus on time-series stellar photometry. The successful candidate is required to be familiar with PSF photometry, photometric calibration, artificial stars test, and other relevant skills. The successful candidate may also, but not be required, to work on time-series analysis such as period-searches, sources classification with machine-learning, etc, and occasionally proposals writing for telescopes with open time access.

Duration of the position is 2.5+0.5 year, with annual renewal that depends on the available funding and the performance of the candidate. The starting date is flexible, with an emphasis on beginning as soon as possible. The salary will be based on research experience, ranging from 60k to 65k NTD monthly. The successful candidate will be a member of the excellent public health insurance system of Taiwan.
