摘要:

The exploration in the Solar System never stop. In 1992, the discovery of the first trans-Neptunian object (TNO) after Pluto, planetary scientists start to consider that the region beyond Neptune should be really full of planetesimals. A decade later, several pioneer TNO surveys used the one-meter-size telescopes to discover bright/Large TNO, e.g. Eris, Haumea, and Makemake. However, more medium and small size TNOs are necessary for understanding the dynamic evolution and accretion process of the early Solar system. Due to the long distance and faintness, a comprehensive TNO survey requires a larger aperture telescope and an appropriate cadence to enhance the discovery efficiency. The Outer Solar System Origins Survey (OSSOS) is the most successful TNO survey, which provides a detailed survey characterization to access the accurate estimation of space distribution and specific populations of TNOs. Although the Hyper Suprime-Cam Subaru Strategic Program (HSC-SSP) is not a dedicated TNO survey, the depth and high cadence of 8-meter telescope provide a unique probe to understand the small/faint TNOs. This talk will introduce these two TNO surveys and the science results in the past few years.
