"SPICA-Taiwan: New Opportunities for MIR-FIR Science in 2030s"

The (recently re-defined) SPICA mission is selected as one of ESA's fifth medium class mission in its Cosmic Vision science programme (M5) in May 2018. ASIAA partners with JAXA (Japan) and SAFARI consortium (international collaboration around SRON/Netherlands) to develop the SPICA Mid-infrared Instrument (SMI) and the SAFARI far-infrared spectroscopic instrument, respectively, and their science programs. It is important to regain momentum in Taiwan on the science activities and technical development. In this colloquium, we will review the status and capability of the SPICA and its instruments, and introduce the key science goals, aiming to promote science discussions on both the existing and new science cases within Taiwan and collaborations with Japanese/SAFARI communities.
