摘要:

Intermediate‑mass black holes (IMBHs; <106M) are critical for understanding the formation of supermassive black holes in the early universe, as they bridge the mass gap between initial black hole seeds and the massive black holes powering luminous high‑redshift quasars. Detecting IMBHs at high redshift, however, remains challenging. In my talk, I will present observational evidence for the first high‑redshift IMBH candidate, identified in the active galactic nucleus ULAS J081621.49+213442.65 at z=7.45. This source exhibits a range of novel spectral and photometric behaviors that provide new insights into mass accretion in early‑stage AGNs, as well as efficient black hole growth and seed formation pathways in the early universe. I will also discuss the prospects for future IMBH searches at high redshift.
