"Is the Universe Inhomogeneous? Possible Interpretation of recent DESI Observational Results"

時間/地點: 2026-12-08 14:00 [S4-1013]

摘要:

The time evolution of the Hubble parameter, derived from Baryon Acoustic Oscillation (BAO) observations by the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) contradicts the predictions of the standard cosmological model (which assumes a homogeneous, isotropic universe with a cosmological constant). This discrepancy, combined with the long-standing (decade-old) tension between Hubble constant values (the current Hubble parameter) derived from supernova observations and those inferred from the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB), strongly suggests that our understanding of cosmology remains incomplete.

In this talk, I will begin by covering the fundamentals of standard cosmology, explain the "Hubble tension," and discuss DESI and BAO, before detailing this discrepancy. While one proposed interpretation involves a time-varying dark energy (rather than a cosmological constant), this talk will explore an alternative possibility—based on our recent research—that the discrepancy arises from large-scale inhomogeneity in the universe.
